‘South Clare International Railtour’
Each year the RPSI operates a multi-day international railtour.  This is something a little bit special, where we invite you to join our restored locomotives on our train across Ireland.  With a full bar on the train (of course, we serve draught Guinness), beautiful scenery, comfortable carriages and a traditional friendly welcome, our tours are fun and relaxing and a great way to see the Emerald Isle.

Saturday 12th May: Dublin Connolly – Atheny – Ennis
Sunday 13th May: Ennis – Limerick – Nenagh – Ballybrophy – Dublin Connolly
Monday 14th May: Dublin Connolly – Belfast – Whitehead

Fringe Events

Thursday 10th May: Steam-hauled carriage positioning train, Whitehead – Belfast – Dublin
Friday 11th May: ‘North Atlantic’ diesel railtour, Dublin – Belfast – Bleach Green – Portrush – Crumlin – Lisburn – Dublin
Tuesday 15th May: Coach tour from Belfast

Steam Train Dublin – Mullingar – Longford / Belvedere House Saturday 5 May 2012

A special outing has been arranged in honour of the late Dr. Garret FitzGerald, using the restored 461 and RPSI coaches.

This is being jointly run by the IRRS  and the RPSI.

No. 186 moves to Dublin

Locomotive No. 186 was transferred from Belfast to Dublin on 28 September 2008, while No. 4 went from Dublin to Belfast.

No. 186 was built in 1879 by Sharp, Stewart & Co., Atlas Works, Manchester for the Great Southern and Western Railway. She was withdrawn in 1964.

The Railway Preservation Society of Ireland is running the “Sea Breeze” on 3 August and 24 August 2008.

Train 1: Dublin Connolly to Wexford/Rosslare Strand & return Depart 10:45, back by 20:00

Train 2: Wexford to Rosslare Strand & return Depart 14:15, back by 16:30
